The New York Conservative Party recognizes that we are living in exceptional times. Not only is there great room for reform of existing legislation, but the very fabric and principles of our free society are at risk. The rights enjoyed by Americans begin at the personal level – freedom of speech, freedom of religion, right to assemble – and extend to the economic level. Citizens are entitled to pursue their dreams in a free economy, governed and regulated by a representative government that is accountable to the people.

Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, and Freedom of the Press

  • All New Yorkers should be free to voice their opinions and be heard. In an age when creeping influence of Islamic Sharia law makes those who speak out the targets of terrorists, the state and federal government must be proactive on the side of citizens.
  • In today’s climate of active jihad by Islamic terrorists, the New York State government should set a national precedent by standing on the side of American tradition, and passing laws that protect our civil liberties.
  • Specifically, New York should pass legislation to protect critics of Islamic Sharia law, who are fully within their Constitutional rights in doing so, from harassment and legal challenges. New Yorkers should not have to feel intimidated by terrorists who do not share our love of freedom, and may not approve of our religions.
  • A free and inquisitive press is the best safeguard of liberties. New York should aspire to become home to the freest and boldest publications, so that corruption in our government and institutions is exposed to the light of public awareness.  To do so, legislation should be studied, proposed, and passed to safeguard journalists from intimidation.

A Vibrant and Growing Economy

  • New York is the Empire State. Built on the port of New York Harbor and the Hudson River, we are by nature a commercial people.
  • State government should welcome businesses and entrepreneurs with low taxes and a friendly regulatory climate.
  • Hydraulic fracturing (aka “fracking”) should be made legal wherever it is determined not to pose a risk to public safety.
  • Employees should enjoy legal provisions that protect them from potential employer abuse, while discouraging costly frivolous lawsuits that tie up the court system and scare away commercial enterprises.
  • Access to the best healthcare system in the world should be available to all New Yorkers. To achieve quality care for more New Yorkers, the Conservative Party is 100% against Obamacare, and demands its full repeal.

Safe Communities for Individuals and Families

  • Due to bad policies that politicians have forced upon the police and other law enforcement, crime is on the rise in New York. Communities are less safe for everyone, especially women and children.
  • Police should be encouraged and rewarded by state and local government in partnering and building trust with the community.
  • New York should adopt practical and proven law enforcement methods.
  • Pragmatic, effective measures such as Stop and Frisk should be brought back to protect New Yorkers from violent criminals and potential terrorists.
  • Genuine community programs that are not politically-oriented or government-funded will flourish, given the right public incentives and leadership.
